How Technology Could Reduce the Number of Car Accidents
New vehicle to vehicle technology is estimated to reduce car crashes in the U.S. by 80 percent—and it may be installed in new vehicles sooner than you might think. In fact, one plan calls for the installation of this technology in all new cars by the end of 2016. If implemented, however, it may only help prevent a car accident if all involved cars are equipped with this technology. Watch this video to find out how this system may help reduce car accidents in Annapolis.
This news clip explains that the technology allows the car to transmit information such as its speed and direction multiple times each second. The car will also receive this information from other nearby cars. If a car accident may be likely to occur, the car will emit a sound to warn the driver. The technology cannot prevent accidents by automatically applying the brakes.
